4 ALTERNATIVE METHODS TO USING GLUE ON YOUR LACE FRONTAL WIG

When it comes to LACE FRONTAL WIGS, you should know you're not just stuck with glue when it comes to your installation. There are so many alternatives and techniques to create a perfect lace front install, and I am here to help you out!

As we all know more and more ladies are tending to purchase LACE FRONTALS, CLOSURES, and wigs to create their unique styles and personalities, as well as protecting their natural hair.

With the rising trend, many are also wondering how to go about accomplishing a glueless lace front install. Using a strong adhesive like wig glue to secure your lace front can cause problems, and honestly, sometimes the damage can not be reversed.

Wig glue is known for blocking the pores in your scalp which then leads to damaging your hair follicles. This damage then prevents your hair from growing along your hairline and even causes thinning, which ultimately leads to hair loss.

We all love a snatched lace front, but we also need to be sure your edges are not snatched along the way because you used the glue method while installing your lace front. If you are interested in some glueless lace front techniques, you came to the right place; well let's get started.

Let’s Prep Your Hair First

To start, you will need to get your hair a flat and smoothed down as possible. The options of accomplishing this step vary based on your hair length, type, and texture.

Fine Or Short Hair

If your hair is on the finer side or even short, you can get away with simply slicking it back into a ponytail or braid at the nape of your neck. Then you will need to secure the length of the ponytail or braid against your head using a few bobby pins.

For Thicker Longer Hair

put hair in cornrows

If your hair is thick or long, it might be best to put it in cornrows. Nothing special or fancy, just straight to the back will suffice. You can then pin your hair up.

You can then put a wig cap on; however, it is not mandatory. If the lace on your frontal does not match your skin, you should wear a wig cap that matches your skin complexion better. Doing so will help you create a more natural looking part.

Now that your hair is nice and flat, it’s time to apply your LACE FRONT WIG. Doing so will help the process so much more, and the application process will differ.

Method One: Using The Wig Grip

the wig grip band

Using the wig grip is a way to wear your wig and not having to deal with glue.

For those of you unfamiliar with wig grips, it is a band that essentially holds your wig in place, securely. You put it on first, underneath your wig, and then attach your unit firmly. It offers various colors, so be sure to purchase the one closest to your skin.

So cool right?!

Okay, Now let's get to it!

Step one - Place your wig grip directly behind your edges and secure the wig grip by connecting the velcro ends. Simply secure the wig grip comfortably in place — no need to tighten it a lot.

Step two - Carefully place your unit on your head where you like it. Remember, once attached to the wig grip its “grips” on firmly and won’t move. Adjust your LACE WIG by gently pulling the hair into the position you desire. Finally, secure your lace wig at the back of your head.

Step Three - Clip your hair back and focus on slaying your edges to create a more natural look and feel.

Step Four - Release your hair from the clips, fluff, and style.

Method Two: Using Clips

Wig clips and combs

Wig clips and combs are incredibly inexpensive. Both wig clips and wig combs attach to your natural hair almost like a barrette will. They are best used when the wig already has a nice, snug fit.

Step One: Turn your FULL LACE WIG inside out. Pull the hair on the wig into a ponytail or place a clamp around it so that it does not get into the way when you start to sew the wig clips on to the unit.

Step Two: Thread the weaving needle using a thread similar to the hair color on the wig to make the wig clips less noticeable.

Grab one of the wig clips and place the bottom of the clips at the bottom, the middle portion of the wig. Make sure the teeth on the clips are facing you.

Step Three: Insert your needle underneath the lace wig and then through the hole on the clips. Now, move to the next hole and insert the clip through the hole and then back through the wig. Repeat this procedure until you have sewn through every hole on each full lace wig clip.

Step Four: Place another wig clip around three inches away from the clip you have sewn onto the full lace wig. Repeat above to attach the clip to the lace cap.

Step Five: Turn the full lace wig to the right side about an inch above where your ear would be and attach another wig clip in this place. Now, repeat on the left side of the wig. Do not attach any clips in the front of the wig, because it will show around your hairline and be noticeable.

Step Six: Flip the wig back into the right position and place it on your head. Insert the wig clips into your hair to secure the wig in place. Remove the hair clamp from the wig and style!

Method Three: Attaching An Elastic Band

The Wig Grip

For the elastic band method, you can purchase an elastic band from your local craft store. The band is then sewn horizontally across the back of the wig in the nape area.

This method helps your wig lay flat. If you purchase a wig that's a little too big, this is the method for you.

The elastic band will work like a drawstring on a pair of baggy sweatpants.

Method Four: Using Hairspray

Step One - Place lace wig on your head as desired.

Step Two: Cut off access lace around your ear.

Step Three: Using Got2b hairspray, spray along your hairline.

Step Four: Going section by section, begin by your ear and spray a layer, and blow dry drown. Continue doing so across your hairline to the other side.

If you have any access hairspray using rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball to remove it.

It's Okay To Go Glueless

You should feel confident in your decision to purchase a lace front wig! With proper installation, you can control the fate of your edges while still slaying and giving the world a gloriously stunning look for days in your favorite lace front wig.
